reflective questions – culture and stereotyping, etc.

Here are some more questions posed by Marion Dowling:

“Does my response to children depend on whether they are boys or girls?” (p.146)

“How visible are men in the nursery; how are they used?” (p.146)

“How do we identify children’s preferred ways of learning and build on these preferences?” (p.146)

“How aware am I of my own culture and how does it influence my behaviour with children?” (p.146)

“How much do I use my knowledge of each child’s cultural background in my work with the group?” (p.146)

About backyardbooks

This blog is a kind of electronic storage locker for ideas and quotes that inform my research... literary research into fiction for young adults (with a special focus on New Zealand fiction). Kiwis are producing amazing literature for younger readers, but it isn't getting the academic appreciation it deserves. I hope readers of this blog can make use of the material I gather and share by way of promoting our fiction. Cheers!
